Tell me about NEM Health

We are a subsidiary of NEM Insurance Plc, a leading provider of Non-Life insurance solutions in Nigeria, with assets of over N38bn. We offer a variety of health insurance plans including domestic plans, retail plans, TPA plans and global plans. Our head office is in Lagos at No. 199 Ikorodu Road Obanikoro Lagos, with regional offices in Port Harcourt, Abuja, Ibadan, Kano, Akure, Onitsha and Calabar.

What are the health plan types available

Our health plans span from individuals (Retail), SME’s, Corporate, Diaspora to International health plans . We also provide cover for senior citizens and can customize health plans to suit your business need.

Who can pick up our health plan?

Our health plan is open to all income earners and individuals from ages 18 to 65 years either as retail or corporate platforms. However, we have a TPA (third party administration) plan for individuals above 65years.

How many lives are covered on the plan?

The number of lives covered under the health plan is determined by the individual or organization at an agreed premium. Dependents such as children, are included based on their age: for corporate plans, dependents can be aged 0–25, while for retail plans, the age range is 0–18.

Is there a limit to the number of people I can register as my beneficiary?

No, you can determine how many lives you wish to register.

Can my father, mother, in-laws, siblings be registered as my beneficiary(s)?

NO, but plan can  purchased for them as an individual /retail plan.

What is the minimum and maximum age required to pick up a personal health plan?

NO, but plan can  purchased for them as an individual /retail plan.

How much do I get to pay as premium to incept a retail health plan?

Premium is determined by the plan type chosen.

When do I start enjoying cover?

Cover starts as soon as premium is paid and confirmed. For  our retail a waiting period of:

  • 9 months for chronic illness, related chronic diseases, surgeries and cancer care and;
  • 12 months for Obstetrics & Gynaecology including antenatal, delivery and post natal care (this will only apply in the first policy year).
What is required to incept a NEM health plan?

Complete proposal form, passport photograph, evidence of payment, valid means of ID, and/or staff ID cards and medical history (for retail individuals).

How do I pick up a NEM health plan?

Can I pick up more than one plan at a time on the retail plan?

No

What are the payment options available?

What should I do if I need to make an endorsement on my enrollment profile (e.g., plan upgrade, add beneficiary)?

With our mobile app, you can choose the option of “change request” fill in the required fields and it will be effected within 24hours. Alternatively, you can channel your request to us via email customercare@nem-health.com

How do I make a claim for a refund in the event that I make out-of-pocket payment for a covered service?

On our mobile app, you can choose the option of “Reimbursement request” , fill in the requirements and it will be processed within 24hours. Alternatively, you can channel your request via email customercare@nem-health.com

Are there any exclusions on our health plans?
Yes, conditions caused by an Act of War, an Epidemic or Enrollee participating in a Riot, Civil Disobedience, autopsies, hormonal therapy etc.
Can I access care from another hospital not selected as my providers at policy inception?

Yes, you can access care from any hospital under your plan type coverage(roaming) at any given time. However, in cases of emergency (life threatening) you can access care at any hospital.

How do I remember my enrollee number?

Your enrollee number is the same as your registered phone number.

How does your telemedicine work?

It is a virtual clinic that gives you access to care without physical presence at the hospital. Our doctors consult with you online and give prescription and/ or advise further depending on the nature of care.

How flexible are your health plans?

Our health plans are designed to accommodate individuals, SME’s and corporate organizations and can be tailored to suit your needs.

What is the HomeReach Plan?

The HomeReach Plan is a health insurance solution designed by NEM Health for Nigerians living abroad who wish to provide quality healthcare coverage for their loved ones residing in Nigeria.

Who can purchase the HomeReach Plan?

Any Nigerian living in the diaspora can purchase this plan on behalf of a beneficiary (parent, sibling, dependent, or friend) living in Nigeria.

Who are the eligible beneficiaries?

Beneficiaries must be residents of Nigeria between the ages of 0 and 79 years. They must be duly registered and verified by NEM Health.

What healthcare services are covered under the plan?

The plan covers: Outpatient consultations, hospital admissions, specialist care, prescription drugs, diagnostic tests, maternal and child health services, emergency care, telemedicine consultations, optical care, dental care and access to a nationwide network of NHIA accredited hospitals.

What are the available plan options?

The HomeReach Plan is available in three tiers: – Tulip Plan, Hazel Plan  and IVY Plan.

How do I pay for the plan?

Diaspora sponsors can pay online via our secure payment portal using international debit/credit cards.

Can I cover more than one person under the plan?

Yes. You can enroll and pay for multiple loved ones under the HomeReach Plan. Each enrollee will receive individual coverage.

How long does coverage last?

Each HomeReach Plan provides 12 months of coverage from the date of activation. Annual renewal is available.

How can my loved ones access care in Nigeria?

Once registered, beneficiaries will receive a welcome letter with instructions on how to access care and download the NEM health app. They can walk into any NEM Health-accredited hospital nationwide to receive care.

Can I monitor the usage of the plan from abroad?

Yes. Through the NEM Health portal, sponsors can receive notifications of hospital visitation by their beneficiaries. They can as well receive a quarterly report of utilization by their beneficiaries

What if I want to upgrade the plan later?

Plan upgrades can be done at renewal. Mid-term upgrades may be allowed under specific conditions. Contact our support team for assistance.
